![]() The problem with such a balanced faction like carthage is that they can be outclasses in any field by at least one faction. Late Libyans are awesome so long as they are fighting cav and elephants rather then infantry I have noticed that getting a "core" of noble fighters and noble Nubians and backing them up with a large amount of cheap units works best so long as your cheap units don't try to fight unwise engagement. slings are best because their main job is to kill the enemy skirmishers. If you use your Libyan hoplites well, use your noble Nubian cav to lure the enemy cav near your Libyan hoplites, unless the enemy have elephants in which Libyan hoplites do amazing against if they have javs backing them up. Your noble fighters will tear apart nearly anything but oathsworn. For their cheap price the libyan hoplites have good armor and decent moral, throw 3 experience bars on these guys and buy 2-4 of them. Libyan hoplites do +25 vs large while all the higher level spear inf does +20. They cost 300 while the next best unit cost over 600. I have found that the late-LIBYAN hoplites are the best spear inf to get as far as getting value out of cost goes. Carthage lacks top of the line shock cav, which is a weakness. I will also get 2 Celtic light horses, which cost 450 but have decent armor and moral. They have very good melee defense and charge so they are very viable as melee cav when their ammo runs out. Noble nubian cav are amazing elephant slayers due to their use of fire and mobility. They have great charge but also can use shield wall, giving them awesome defense and attack capabilities.ĭepending on the faction I am facing I will either go with 4 slingers or 2 slings 2 javs.Ĭarthage cavalry is also great. I try to get about 3-5 of these bad boys. The mercenary noble fighters are amazing. Mercenary noble fighters and mercenary noble Nubian cav are great units! I think Carthage units favored the use of pikes+skirmishers+elephants and spear inf but lately I have been using their sword inf to great effect. I never liked Carthage because they lacked good sword inf but since they got their new units I have been loving them. Think we missed one?
